The location. The employees. The residents... THE BEST ANYWHERE. Moving to one b.r. in another location after six years. ... There is no place would rather have been than here. My beloved wife spent the last four years constantly fighting for her life. The people here were fantastic help in making those last years as great as they could be. I am not just talking about employees. Every resident with whom we ever had contact, even if it was just to ride the elevator together, always was friendly. Many of you reached out to Karen when she would be out and about in her wheelchair. And the cherry on the sundae was being able to sit and look out at the activities taking place on the "court" behind our apartment. Much appreciation for Pierce/Pearce, who came to the rescue when I called to report water dripping from the ceiling in my ... small bathroom. It was quickly filling a pail, and the water spread (somehow) to my entry way and outside the door -- the hallway carpeting was soaked. Signs of water dripping down the wall and in the ceiling of the bathroom are also present. When I called for help he asked me to check the units above me for damage. 203 and 303 were not home, but 403 also had wet carpeting in the hallway. Apparently their washing machine was leaking. Pierce/Pearce brought a wet/dry vacuum and soaked up as much water as possible from my floors and the carpet in the hallway. He left a huge fan in the hall to help dry the floor/carpet. I'm sure coming out at 8 p.m. on a Sunday evening was not on his calendar, but he performed the necessary work very pleasantly and efficiently. Kudos and many thanks to him for getting here as soon as he did. He deserves a Stuart Star, but I couldn't find one to present to him. As I was working at my computer this afternoon, I started to feel uncomfortably chilly. I checked the thermostat to discover ... that although it was still set at 71*, the thermostat registered only 66*. I tried to call the office and got no answer, so I called the emergency number to report the situation. To my surprise Mauro answered! I explained my fear that the furnace was not firing; he had to drive in from his home, but got here quickly. He surveyed the situation and within an hour or so had replaced the heat pump for the furnace with a refurbished unit! I can't believe how QUIET it is compared to the original equipment. I appreciate his willingness and ability to handle this situation in such a timely, pleasant, and courteous manner. Mauro is truly an asset to the York Plaza staff. Thank you for his service!! We lived at York Plaza for over two years and only moved because we were moving out of state. It is an older building but ... was a wonderful place to live. Very quiet and convenient to everything. Centennial lakes is a great place to walk, shop and eat. The administrative and maintenance staff were exceptional and kept the place in good shape. They always were there to help or work out an issue. Loved the amenities: pools, party room, exercise room, resident pot lucks, movie days, business office area, and underground parking.
